Spotlight on... Speakers
Day One – 8 March
Today's Business in Tomorrow's World
What business could look like in the future on a global, national and regional level. What are the future business opportunities in North East England? Can the North East become a global leader in New and Renewable Energy, and what opportunities does this present to you?
James Woudhuysen – Professor of Forecasting and Innovation at De Montfort University. James has a knack of registering trends before other people, and offering counter-intuitive proposals on what to do about those trends. The only things James does not forecast are the weather, the stock market, the horses and your own personal destiny.
Peter Osborne – Peter has a worldwide reputation for innovation in sustainable technology and Micro Generation, creating local power sources of up to 100 kilowatts output. He works at the forefront of sustainable technology, designing and manufacturing wind turbines for a global market. His stance is pragmatic: everything must provide attractive ROI, irrespective of grants or incentives, which can never be guaranteed.
Day Two – 9 March
Business Growth and Diversity
How do you access finance in today’s economic uncertain times? The second day will focus on supporting, growing and diversifying your business.
Rosie Smith – Bank of England. Rosie will cover some of the issues arising from the recent downturn and look at evidence that things have improved.
Kenny Harris – Small Budgets Don’t Mean Small Ideas. All organisations are currently working under increasing pressure with reduced budgets. Kenny will outline why budget is just another thing to get creative about, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Kenny Harris is the creator and author of Headsurfing, a creative programme of habits and behaviours, tools and techniques to think more creatively.
